This huge sycamore bowl is one of the largest bowls I’ve ever turned. It reminds me of a cauldron. The grain and colour tones are spectacular and along with the scale of the piece, it will surely have a wonderful presence in any indoor space.

This sycamore tree came from my Grandparent’s farm near Tullow in Co. Carlow. The tree came down in a storm during the winter of 2017 and I’ve made many pieces from the beautiful timber since then. The rippled grain of this sycamore bowl is absolutely wonderful to view from all angles and shimmers beautifully in direct sunlight.
